CSA Standards is the standards writing body in the United States for gas appliances and accessories and alternative energy products with over 80 years experience developing standards. We are also a solutions-oriented organization serving businesses, trade associations, governments, and industries in the U.S. and the global marketplace. What is a Standard? What we do in Standards Development ![]() |
Here's what CSA Standards committee members have to say about getting involved with standards development: “If you are in the business of producing, selling or servicing gas-fired products, you should be involved in at least some aspect of the standards development process. Your input and expertise can make a difference and always matters.” Ronnie Frazier - Atmos Energy “Having a technical employee participate in the standards development process is a key part of being in business. Without it, the company would be behind the knowledge curve and not benefiting from the alliance that participation offers.” Don Denton - Vent Free Alliance “If you want your voice to be heard, you need to be involved with the development of the standards that are used by the authorities who regulate your product.” Bruce Swiecicki - NPGA “Get involved! Industry standards are designed to ensure products perform as intended and perform safely!” Livio Gambone - Powertech Labs |
Get Involved
By participating in standards development activities, you have an opportunity to directly influence the requirements and guidelines for your product.
With new technologies and materials being developed, standards are constantly evolving and need people with the technical background to keep the products they standardize efficient, safe and effective. Getting involved in a standards program lets you fully understand your product, its safety considerations, your industry and your competitors up close and personal. Without your influence and input, your competitors can dictate the way you do business through the content of the standard. That can even include language that standardizes your product off the market.
