Your Voice at CSA America

Getting InvolvedYou may not realize it, but standards touch your life every day. They affect nearly every product or service you encounter, from your stove to your bicycle helmet.

Because they make a real difference in your life and in the world around you - it's vital that standards be developed with your needs in mind. That's why CSA America relies on the knowledge and insights of consumers like you.

CSA America is a standards writing body in the United States with over 75 years experience in the development of standards. These standards cover products such as furnaces, water heaters, cooking appliances, and fuel cells.

CSA America's Consumer Program

CSA America's Consumer Program exists for one purpose: to give consumers and members of the public a voice in the standards development process.

The Program coordinates consumer affairs activities at CSA America in recruiting and providing financial support for consumer representatives.

In addition,we:

  • operate a consumer network of individuals who participate in surveys and consultations
  • work with consumer and public interest organizations on key consumer issues
  • provide public consultations and advisory groups
  • conduct research on consumer issues and trends

CSA America manages the standards development work for over 80 different standards in the field of gas appliances and accessories, natural gas vehicles and fuel cells. We are committed to increasing the participation of consumer and public interest representatives in the work of CSA America.
