Why Standards Matter

A standard is a document that specifies minimum requirements for design, construction, performance and quality control during production of the product.

They provide guidelines to protect the consumer and to regulate and monitor the industry so that manufacturers can build safe, reliable products that can compete in the global marketplace. Standards help facilitate trade and enables manufacturers to sell their products cross borders.
